Flo Rose Cunningham
Flo Rose Cunningham, 84, of Winfield, Alabama, passed away on Easter Sunday, 04.01.2018, at Grandview Medical Center, in Birmingham, Alabama. She was born September 17, 1933 in Winfield, Al., to Baxter and Margie Rose. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Olan Cunningham. Also surviving are her children, Rose Perry (Davis), Sherry Cunningham, Susan Cunningham, Brad Cunningham (Shelly) and Tina Atkinson (Todd). Grandchildren Maghan Craig (Hal), Shannon Estes, Tyler Estes, Jess Perry, Kris Sce (Joe), Adrian Dickerson (Eric), Trey Cunningham, Olivia Atkinson and Emma Atkinson. Great Grandchildren Addison, Harper, Ashton, Levi, Conner, Dylan, Ella and Cash and her surviving Brother, Bill Rose. She also leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Baxter and Margie Rose and sister Angie Vickery.
Flo grew up in the Shoals area in addition to Winfield. She graduated from Winfield City High School and Birmingham Business College. She resided with her husband in Auburn, Alabama and then in Red Bay where they started their family. After raising their 5 children, Flo became a successful business owner and later worked for the Marion County Board of Registrars.
Family and friends, gardening, entertaining and all things Auburn were Flo’s passion and delight. She also enjoyed spending time at the lake and she loved the beach. She was an active member of the Modern Literary Club and the Northwest Alabama Auburn Club. Her most recent endeavors included weekly caregivers with the church and Lunch Bunch. She was a longtime member of the Winfield Church of Christ. She loved the Lord with all her might.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 4, at 5:00 PM from the Winfield Church of Christ. Burial followed in Winfield City Cemetery with James Wyers and Elijah Fowler officiating. Honorary pallbearers where the Lunch Bunch and the Church of Christ Caregivers. Jeff Robertson, Sonny Little, Tony Nicholson, Randy Gault, Chase Lenahan and Brett Burleson served as active pallbearers.

CHARLES D. MCDONALD, SR.
Charles Donald McDonald, Sr. age 89 of Winfield (in the Wayside Community), passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at Oak Tree Manor Assisted Living in Amory, MS. Charles was born in Fayette County on September 21, 1928 to the late Andrew Jackson and Velma Malloy McDonald. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean War before graduating from Mississippi State University. He retired from Integon Life Insurance Company as a sales agent; and was a member of the Winfield First United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lessie Jane Ford McDonald; seven sisters, Sammy Lee Roberts, Eloise Norris, Sudie Trull, Kathleen Garrison, Ruby May, Julia Faye Greenlee, and Jettie Whitley; and five brothers, Clarence, Billy, Shaffer, Louie, and Wallace McDonald.
He is survived by his son, Charles D. McDonald, Jr. of Hamilton; a brother, Jimmy McDonald and his wife Jean of Fulton, MS; a sister, Mary Markham and her husband Wilburn of Tuscaloosa; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives. The family would also like to extend a special thank you to his care givers, Jimmy McDonald, Buddy Norris, and Philip Garrison, the staff of Oak Tree Manor Assisted Living, and Southern Care Hospice.
Funeral services were held Friday, March 23, at 11:00 AM from the McGraw Memorial Chapel of Miles Funeral Home. Burial followed in McDonald Cemetery with Wade Peoples officiating. Eulene Elliot Burns
Eulene Elliott Burns, age 88 of Guin passed away in the Northwest Medical Center in Winfield on Tuesday, March 20, 2018. Eulene was a resident of the Guin area for most of her life. She was born in the Mt. Pleasant community to Thomas and Eula Elliott. She was graduate of Winfield High School and worked for a while at Partlow State school in Tuscaloosa, AL and then met the love of her life, Manaly Travis Burns. They were married for 51 years before he passed away in 2008. She was a housewife and mother to three sons and lived in the Winfield and Guin area. She is survived by her sons, Danny and his wife Shannon of Hoover, AL, Lonnie (Butch) of Columbus, Ohio, Richard (Dicky) of Winfield, AL, grandchildren Noah and Laura Burns of Hoover and SkyLa Burns of North Carolina. A sister, Tommie and Skip Fetter of Guin, brothers Donald Elliott of Milan, Illinois, Billie Elliott of Wills Point, TX. And a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents Tom and Eula Elliott, husband Manaly Burns, a brother Johnny Elliott and two grandchildren, Caleb and Kyle Burns of Hoover. Eulene was a member of Gu-Win Baptist church. She also had been a member of New Hope Baptist church in Guin for many years and served as a Sunday School teacher and on several church committees through the years.
Eulene loved working in her garden and was well known for her beautiful flowers and also for her skill in cooking great meals – for her family and also for church dinners and other events. Her family was her joy and she loved spending time with them. Funeral services were held Thursday, March 22, 2018 at Miles Funeral home in Winfield with burial following in the Burns/Elliott section of Zion Cemetery. Kenny Dale Cook
Mr. Kenny Dale Cook age 64 of Winfield, Alabama, passed away in the early morning hours Monday, March 19, 2018 at home with family by his side. Kenny was born in Clinton, Arkansas on October 17, 1953, the son of Seth Cook currently of Atwater, California and the Late Susie Kirkendall Barrigar.
Kenny worked hard for most of his life, many years as a carpenter and later in metal works. He had many travels and adventures that he enjoyed sharing stories of with his children and friends. He was always telling jokes and making everyone around him smile and laugh, he loved life and being happy with whatever he had. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and checked often on them. He wouldn't hesitate to help someone in need even if it meant he would go without. He definitely had a heart of gold. Kenny's happiest places other than being surrounded by family were in the woods hunting or on his tractor "fixing up the place". A hard worker and loving father, friend and husband, he will be greatly missed.
Kenny was preceded in death by his mother Susie Barrigar, three sisters, Lori Cook, Barbara Oser and Karen Shipley. He is survived by one sister Linda Scribner of Aztec, New Mexico and two brothers Bennie Cook of Manteca, California and Gary Cook and wife Karen of Atwater, California. Kenny is also survived by his wife, Katherine Brown Cook and leaves behind 6 children, Christy Cook Ashlock Alley of Atwater, California, Mistie Cook Johnson of Wichita Falls, Texas, Jason Cook of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Starla Cook Burnett of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Katie Cook of Winfield, Alabama and Catho Cook of Winfield, Alabama, Step-children Justin Fortenberry of Florence, Alabama, William Fortenberry and Keith Simmons both of Haleyville, Alabama, Michael Franks of Guin, Alabama, seventeen grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at 7 P.M. from the McGraw Memorial Chapel of Miles Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Thursday, March 29, 2018 from 6-7 pm.
The family will return his ashes to the earth at Pee Dee Cemetery in Clinton, Arkansas at sunset on Saturday, March 31, 2018.

JOHNNY MACK PLUNKETT
Johnny Mack Plunkett, age 76 of Lynn, passed away Saturday, February 17, at his residence. Mr. Plunkett was born January 2, 1942 to the late Mack and Arva Woodham Plunkett. He worked as a mechanic in the coal mines for of 27 years and had a passion for drag racing and working on old cars.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Ruth Plunkett; a son, John Curtis Plunkett; five brothers, Edward Robert, Lecil, Pete, and Curtis; and a step-son, Paul Wayne Tidwell.
He is survived by, a son, Kelvin Plunkett and his wife Kimberly of Lynn; a step-son, Robert Timothy Tidwell of Hubbertville; a brother, R.M. Plunkett and his wife Lucy of Natural Bridge; four grandchildren, Jennifer Lacey and her husband Justin of Winfield, Cassie Tucker and her husband Garrett of Winfield, Chelsea Plunkett of Lynn, and Nathan Mack Plunkett of Lynn; three great grand children, Kennah Beth Lacey, Karter Lacey, and Avery Tucker; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 20, at 2:00 PM from the McGraw Memorial Chapel of Miles Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Old Union Cemetery in Eldridge with Larry Plunkett and Tim Box officiating. Visitation will be Monday evening, at the funeral home, from 6:00 until 8:00 pm.

Mrs. Myrtle Sexton Moore (better known as Teen) age 90 of Winfield passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at DCH Hospital in Tuscaloosa. She was born on May 22, 1927 in Walker County a daughter of Julius Raymond and Marmie Elmyra Willcutt Sexton. She was raised in Winfield where she lived most of her life and attended Winfield City High School. She worked in the local garment industry and nursing home for many years. She loved flowers and enjoyed fishing, gardening and crocheting. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Winfred Clinton “Junior” Moore, her step- mother, Clester Sexton, her grandson, Winfred Eugene Moore, her brother, James Sexton, sister, Louise Barnes, her niece, Barbara Boeny and her nephew, Ray Barnes.
Myrtle is survived by her, daughter, Elveta Moore Smith of Winfield and her son, Lewis J. Moore and his wife, Mary Francis of Winfield, granddaughter, Cynthia Berryhill and her husband, Jeremy and great-grandchildren, Mahala and Ashtin Berryhill all of Hubbertville and nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Meredith Hewitt Green (better known as M.H.), age 102 of Winfield, passed away Saturday, February 10, 2018 at his nephew’s residence. Mr. Green was born in Marion County on December 10, 1915 to the late Doc Gilbert and Maggie Lee Akers Green. He was a resident of Winfield most of his life. He was a 1952 graduate of the University of Alabama and retired from the US Government as a civil engineer. He loved to golf and did so until age 100. He was a member of Winfield First Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jonnie Marie Floyd Green; and his brothers and sisters, Jessie Chloe Green, Bunyan Tyra Green, Floy Green Holliman, Clyde S. Green, and Lillie May Green.
He is survived by one brother, Paul Gilbert Green of Pensacola, FL; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 16, at 2:00 PM from the McGraw Memorial Chapel of Miles Funeral Home. Burial will follow in West Alabama Memorial Gardens with Dr. Paul Murphy officiating. Visitation will be Friday, at the funeral home from 12:00 PM until time of service at 2:00.

OVA ELIZABETH LEE
Ova Elizabeth Lee passed away peacefully at MeSun Hospice Care in Lawrenceville, GA on February 11, 2018 with her sister, Rebecca, at her side. Elizabeth was born on February 2, 1958 in Winfield, AL the youngest daughter of Sam F Lee Jr., and Ruth Mills Lee. She graduated from Winfield City High School in 1976. She attended the University of Alabama for two years before leaving to get married. She studied at Ultimate Medical Academy making the Dean List. She worked as a receptionist and Administrative Assistant before changing careers to be a licensed medical coder. Elizabeth had a loving and gracious personality. She had a big loving heart for people and a special concern for animals. She rescued many dogs and cats and gave them a loving home. She loved the beach and walking on the shore at sunset. One of her favorite pastimes was working jigsaw puzzles. She loved it so much she had even completed several very difficult 3D puzzles.

Ova Elizabeth Lee passed away peacefully at MeSun Hospice Care in Lawrenceville, GA on February 11, 2018 with her sister, Rebecca, at her side. Elizabeth was born on February 2, 1958 in Winfield, AL the youngest daughter of Sam F Lee Jr., and Ruth Mills Lee. She graduated from Winfield City High School in 1976. She attended the University of Alabama for two years before leaving to get married. She studied at Ultimate Medical Academy making the Dean List. She worked as a receptionist and Administrative Assistant before changing careers to be a licensed medical coder. Elizabeth had a loving and gracious personality. She had a big loving heart for people and a special concern for animals. She rescued many dogs and cats and gave them a loving home. She loved the beach and walking on the shore at sunset. One of her favorite pastimes was working jigsaw puzzles. She loved it so much she had even completed several very difficult 3D puzzles.

He was a graduate of Flour Bluff High School in Corpus Christi, TX. He grew up in a military family and was a veteran himself; retiring after 16 years in the US Navy. He enjoyed keeping a farm and riding motorcycles. He was known to have a great sense of humor and being a loving husband and father.
He was preceded in death by a brother, John Anthony Willis; a grandchild, McKenzie Lachea Sandlin; a son in-law, Sean Allen Sandlin; and his grandparents, Javis and Easter Willis and Manny Fowler and Lorene Alexander.

She loved being outdoors, especially fishing. She also enjoyed playing Rook. Her biggest love was spending time with her grandchildren.

Mr Louis Christian Nydegger age 85 of Huntsville formerly of Winfield and of Indiana passed away Thursday, February 8, 2018 in the Millennium Health and Rehab in Huntsville. He was born on July 8, 1932 in Tippecanoe, Indiana a son of Louis Christian and Elsie Regina Razen Nydegger. He was a resident of Tippecanoe most of his life where he worked as a farmer and operated the family farm. He graduated from Clarks Hill High School in 1951. He was a United States Navy Veteran and a member of Christian Church in Clarks Hill where he was baptized in 1946. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Charles F. Nydegger, a half-brother, Everette Doke and a half-sister, Viola Doke.
Louis is survived by his brother, David Nydegger and his wife Joyce of Harvest, his sister, Louise Christine Story of Williamsport, Indiana and nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Donnie was born in Fayette County on March 8, 1930 to the late Floyd and Ethel Estelle Sprinkle Dodd. He was a resident of Eldridge most of his life and was a member of Kansas Church of Christ. He retired as a truck driver, although he had also worked in the mines and farmed. He was a member of Sand Hill Wagon Riding Club and had a love for working horses and mules.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Leon “Bunk” Dodd as well as his wife Nell, and Bill Dodd; and a great granddaughter, Abigail Dodd.

She was previously a resident of Tuscaloosa and resident of Rockford, IL for 30 years before moving to Winfield in 2001. She enjoyed babysitting and caring for children who she treated and loved as if they were her own. She loved sewing and craft making. She was a member of Winfield Church of God. She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Betty Crowe and Jimmy Sue Hocutt.
She is survived by her husband, Bobby E. Johnny Mack Lee, age 60 of Guin, passed away Friday, January 5, 2018 at his residence. Johnny was born June 10, 1957 to the late Mack V. and Earnesteen Corkren Lee. He was born and raised in Montgomery and moved to the Guin area in 1999. He worked at Rheem Mfg. and in Construction most of his life. Johnny was an avid Alabama football fan.

David Rayburn Huguley age 64 of Brilliant passed away on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 in the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, MS. David was born May 28, 1953 a son of Rayburn and Alma Wilson Huguley. He was a lifelong resident of Brilliant where he attended school and graduated from Brilliant High School in 1971. He went on to attend Livingston University where he earned a bachelor’s degree. He worked for the State of Alabama where he served as counselor for abused children. He was a member of the Brilliant Free Will Baptist Church. He enjoyed playing music and writing songs. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by a host of cousins and other relatives.

Friar was born on October 30, 1946 in Winfield a son of James “Gyp” Tucker and Lois Ellaine Smothers Tucker. He was born and raised in Winfield where he attended Winfield City High School. He worked in various mobile home manufacturing facilities in the area. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Lonnie Ray Tucker and a sister, Linda Faye Butts.

Dorothy was born on November 27, 1932 in Marion County to the late George Elmon and Ruby Irene Bryan Conway. She was valedictorian of her class at Marion County High School; very active in her church where she was involved with the widow ministry, as well as an avid gardener and sewer.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Elmer N. Shippey and James B. Gay.
She is survived by two daughters, Kathy Shippey Mashburn of Huntsville and Regina Shippey Neglio and her husband Juan of Rockwall, TX; a sister, Peggy Dickinson of Lewisville, TX; four grandchildren, Stacey Earnhardt, Adam Mashburn, Sophia Neglio, and Savannah Neglio; four great grandchildren, Micah Earnhardt, Michaela Earnhardt, Malachai Earnhardt, and J. Leigh Mashburn; three nephews, Eric Dickinson, Aaron Dickinson, and Mallory Dickinson; a niece, Michelle Dickinson Price; as well as many other friends and relatives.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 26, at 10:00 AM from the First Baptist Church of Madison, AL with Burt Breland and Michael Walker officiating. A graveside service was held at Center United Methodist Church Cemetery at 3:00 PM on Tuesday. Memorials may be made to Center United Methodist Church Building fund or the Alzheimer’s Association. KAY VENTHAL FRANKS
Kay Venthal Franks, age 80 of Winfield, passed away Monday, December 18, 2017 at Diversicare of Winfield. Venthal was born in Winfield on March 2, 1937 to the late Freelon and Pearlie Sandlin Franks. He was a lifelong resident of Winfield where he worked as a delivery driver for Pepsi Co., helped Bunk Beasley with farming, and had also worked for the City of Winfield and Marion County. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed walking and watching TV; loved his motorcycles (when he was younger), his caretakers, and his family; which he is the last of 11 siblings.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Franks; sisters, Clytee, Kathleen, Mary, and Pearl; brothers, R.D., Fred, Leelon, Glenn, Kenneth, and Ithel Lee.
He is survived by his daughter, Katrina Kay Franks; a god daughter, Nancy Linley; a special niece, Rhonda Franks Markham; special caregivers, Briana Wilson, D.J. Wilson, Jaelyn Wilson, Camron Wilson, and Landon Wilson; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other friends and relatives.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 20, at 2:00 PM from the McGraw Memorial Chapel of Miles Funeral Home. Burial followed in the Winfield City Cemetery with Wendall Kimbrell officiating.
